Literaturhaus Munich: conductor Kent Nagano presents a new book – Munich

Kent Nagano is a frequent flyer. That’s just the way it is in the life of star conductors, especially when they lead orchestras on two continents and are in demand in the concert halls of the world. On one of these flights, the native Californian got caught in a music video by the Icelandic pop siren Björk and was so entranced by her exceptional voice that he later invited her to the Verbier Festival. Special encounters like these shaped Nagano, who was General Music Director of the Bavarian State Opera from 2006 to 2013 and is now chief conductor in Hamburg, as a person and artist. In his new book “10 Lessons of my life. What really counts”, which he will be presenting on Tuesday, October 19 in a conversation with Inge Kloepfer at the Munich House of Literature, he dedicates amusing and loving portraits to them.

Kent Nagano, “10 Lessons of my life. What really counts”, Tuesday, October 19, 8 pm, Literaturhaus, hall and live stream, tickets: www.literaturhaus-muenchen.de, Phone 0180/6700733
