He was Japan’s great post-war author and a convinced pacifist: Kenzaburo Oe died at the age of 88.

The Japanese Nobel Prize winner for literature Kenzaburo Oe is dead. He died at the age of 88, according to his publisher Kodansha. Japan’s great post-war author was a committed pacifist.

After the nuclear disaster in Fukushima exactly twelve years ago, he unsuccessfully called on his country to phase out nuclear power.
