Literature in Ismaning – Reading exquisite – Munich district

Culture pessimists sometimes have the impression that communication among people today is mainly limited to chats and social media posts of a questionable level in terms of content and spelling. Tweeting, sending comments and emojis are the supposed primary virtues. The “Ismaning told” competition, which started last year, is intended to demonstrate that there is another way, words and storytelling can cast a spell over you with their beauty, dramaturgical depth and humor.

From March to September 2020, the citizens of the community had the opportunity to submit stories they had written. Next Tuesday, July 27th, the winning texts of the short story competition “Ismaning tells” will be presented on the open-air stage in the Seidl-Mühle culture and education center. The selection was made by an expert jury: It consisted of Constanze Geertz, editor, ghostwriter and head of writing workshops, Meike Harms, successful slampo and co-organizer of the Ismaning poetry show “Dichter ran ans Wort”, the editor and literature lecturer Bernhard Horwatitsch and Christian Mörtel, Head of the Ismaning community library, and Lothar Stetz, director of the VHS in the north of the Munich district. The jury selected a total of eleven texts that were particularly worth reading and listening to from the stories submitted.

On Tuesday from 6 p.m. onwards, the winners will personally read their short stories to the audience. When the weather is nice, on the open-air stage in the Seidl-Mühle, when it rains, the event will be relocated to the Hainhalle at Erich-Zeitler-Straße 5. To attend this presentation of Ismaning storytelling, you need to register in the Ismaning community library by email ([email protected]) or by phone (089/96 20 92 41). Admission is free.

The evening, which is supposed to celebrate the literary diversity and possibly even astonish one or the other cultural pessimist, is a cooperation event between the VHS and the community library.
