At the Golden Globes this week

Earlier this week, both Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley attended the Golden Globes in Los Angeles. There, Austin Butler, who won an award for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the movie “Elvis,” thanked them for their support during filming.

Lisa Marie Presley was the only daughter of Elvis Presley (1935 – 1977). She has pursued a singing career herself and has released three studio albums, most recently Storm & Grace in 2012. Her private life was turbulent: until her parents, who were probably the most famous musician couple at the time, separated, she lived on the “Graceland” property in Memphis, later with her mother in Los Angeles. She suffered from the death of her father, took drugs, and when she was 18 she joined the Scientology sect.

She was married four times, including to pop singer Michael Jackson and actor Nicolas Cage. Lisa Marie Presley is survived by 14-year-old twin daughters and one adult daughter, actress Riley Keough, 33. Their son, Benjamin Keough, died in 2020 at the age of 27.

The singer’s sudden death caused consternation in Hollywood. “Lisa, little girl, I’m so sorry. I’ll miss you, but I know I’ll see you again”, wrote actor John Travolta on Instagram to a photo of Lisa Marie. “So sad that we lost another bright star”, Oscar winner Octavia Spencer wrote on Twitter. This is heartbreaking, the mourned Singer LeAnn Rimes on twitter. “I hope she finds peace in her father’s arms.”
