Lisa Eckhart’s new program: “Empress Stasi the First”: Nothing about it is provocative – culture

At the bottom of the Statue of Liberty is written: “Give me your tired, your poor, your downtrodden masses longing to breathe free, the miserable filth of your crowded shores.” If you are really, really sympathetic, you can understand Lisa Eckhart’s new program “Empress Stasi the First” in which the Austrian cabaret artist declares herself the Empress of the East Germans. And of course you have reasons to be very, very benevolent. On the one hand, because you should generally be benevolent. On the other hand, because Lisa Eckhart was caught telling a pretty good joke two years ago and since then they’ve been hoping that she’ll become a pretty good cabaret artist. Because – without wanting to beat up people lying on the ground – there aren’t very many good cabaret artists in this country.
