Football superstar Lionel Messi is honored with a four-part documentary about his career in the Argentine national team.

Lionel Messi (35) is widely regarded as one of the most gifted football players in the world. During his career he was awarded the Ballon d’Or as “World Footballer of the Year” seven times. As the streaming service Apple TV+ has announced, his World Cup path is now to be portrayed in a four-part documentary series.

Documentary promises “unique insights”

According to the announcement, the footballer will report in his own words on the highlights of his World Cup career in the still untitled documentary – from the first game to the victory of the Argentine national team at the World Cup in Qatar last year. This includes “rare and unique insights” into what is happening around Messi and the controversial World Cup. It is unclear whether the loud criticism of the tournament in Qatar will also be addressed.

Tim Pastore, Patrick Milling Smith, Brian Carmody, Matt Renner, John Henion and Juan Camilo Cruz are named as the leading producers of the Messi documentary, who are involved with productions such as “Free Solo”, “Ohne Limits mit Chris Hemsworth” or ” Welcome to Wrexham” have made a name for themselves. An exact start date for the series has not yet been announced.
