Lindner and the salary debate in the public-law media

A pothead from television shouldn’t earn more than a chief politician who has to phone Putin? This debate from the FDP is too good to end now.

In his habitual attempt to criticize public service broadcasting, the leader of the FDP has vehemently launched a polemic, the core of which, if there were a left-wing movement to be taken seriously in this country, has the potential for a larger debate. Lindner had suggested linking the salary of the directors to that of the federal chancellor and to limit accordingly: ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandfunk, Phoenix and all the regional rest – all bosses then earned at most as much as Olaf Scholz.
