Many have remembered her as a musician: how she stands at the keyboard and tours the arenas of the world with her husband Paul McCartney. But Linda McCartney is much more than just the wife of the former Beatles, to whom she was married from 1969 until her death in 1998: she was one of the trend-setting photographers of the rock era. Absurdly enough, it was photos of the Rolling Stones – at the time the great opponents of the Beatles – that opened the door to the music business for the young woman. This is how she met her future husband.
The Ludwig Gallery in Oberhausen Castle shows an overview of the artist’s photographic work. The retrospective “Linda McCartney – The Sixties and more” is open until May 3, 2020. More under www.ludwiggalerie.de
