Light art night in Traunreut – Munich

Normally you can only see the art that is shown in the museum “Das Maximum” in Traunreut, which was donated by the collector Heiner Friedrich, in daylight. Now the circle of friends and sponsors is organizing one on the occasion of its tenth anniversary and also in view of Heiner Friedrich’s upcoming 85th birthday Light art action: “Flavin at night”.

The Dan Flavin Hall will also be open for the first time from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 27, and you can experience the bright and intense color world of the American light art pioneer at sunset and in the dark. The focus in Traunreut will be on the nine-part light installation “European Couples”, one of Flavin’s early major works.

Where daylight normally enters into dialogue with the light sculpture and the architecture, the interaction is reversed at night, the light expands into the darkness and creates new impressions in interaction with the architecture. There is also a children’s program and an introduction to the work and a lecture on Dan Flavin. A food truck provides guests with mulled wine and street food inspired entirely by American art.
