Life without a car: How to stay mobile in Munich anyway – Munich

Before Munich got an underground and an S-Bahn 50 years ago, local public transport was a tragedy. There were buses and trams – but they were regularly stuck in traffic. And even if grumbling about unreliable public transport is considered good manners, today’s public transport in Munich is quite impressive compared to other metropolises of a similar size. Nevertheless, the city politicians are pushing for a further massive expansion of the “public”. Without this, the goal of making traffic climate-neutral by 2035 cannot be achieved.
