The financing plan, with a total cost of 14 billion euros, was the subject of an agreement for the first tranche on Monday between the State, SNCF-Réseau and the 25 local partner communities. This signed agreement provides for an envelope of 5.6 billion euros, including studies: the support will be 40% by the State, 40% by the communities and 20% by Europe.

“Leading a project is far from being a long calm river. But we will all be there collectively”, continued Jean Castex.

Were present, in particular, the president of the region Carole Delga, the presidents of the departments of Occitanie, and the vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The president was himself, in video, stuck in Bordeaux traffic jams: “Hence the interest of the train”, he launched.

The LGV project should respond to a feeling of injustice on the Atlantic coast and in the Occitanie region. According to its president, Carole Delga, “60% of French people more than 4 hours from Paris are in Occitania.” The LGV should make it possible to connect Toulouse to Paris in about 3 hours, and to Bordeaux in about 1 hour.
