A television like something out of a sci-fi movie – except that the future is already today, at least if LG had its way. The TV manufacturer presented its new transparent television at CES 2024 with the Signature OLED T 4K.

The idea that televisions can be seen, at least metaphorically, as windows to the world is a beautiful one. Now LG is going one step further and is presenting the Signature OLED T 4K, a new transparent television that not only represents a window in the figurative sense, but also in fact.

LG Signature OLED T 4K TV: Transparent and 77 inches in size
There was a lot of pioneering technology to admire at the CES 2024 electronics trade fair, including the Signature OLED T 4K television from LG Electronics. A transparent television that, when switched off, could at first glance appear to be a slightly tinted window pane.
In T-Bar mode you can only use the bottom edge of the screen to display the weather or news. Even in the so-called always-on display mode, the 77-inch television retains its transparent properties and always allows a view of what is behind the TV. According to LG, this should create new possibilities for interior design, because now the television is not a big, black box that usually stands or hangs on the wall. The OLED T (the T stands for transparent) can be placed much more freely in the room, does not block the view, but fits stylishly into the furnishings of any living room.
Without tangled cables, but in 4K quality
The free, individual and stylish placement options for LG’s 4K television are made possible not only by its transparency, but also by the fact that it only requires a power cable for operation. A Zero Connect Box is used for all signals, which serves as a hub for HDMI signals, TV sticks or consoles. The audiovisual data is transmitted to the television via radio. According to LG Electronics, the transmission of images and sound should be 120 frames per second (and therefore 4K).
Like other LG models, the Signature OLED T also has an integrated Alpha 11 AI processor, which offers 70 percent better graphics performance and 30 percent improved processing speed compared to the previous model.

And what about classic television? In addition to all the transparency, design and futuristic appearance, the LG Signature OLED T 4K is also able to ensure “normal” television. The aim is to increase the contrast of the television at the push of a button, enabling a classic and non-transparent film and gaming experience.
LG OLED T 4K: Price and release not yet known
LG has not announced when the Signature OLED T 4K will go on sale, but we are also assuming 2024. The South Koreans also kept a low profile about the price at CES 24. It’s not hard to guess that the transparent 77-inch television won’t be a hit.
Quality has its price. And LG televisions impress with their quality, as Stiftung Warentest has also confirmed, which has crowned LG TVs among the best on the market.
