Leutershausen: acquittal for ex-mayor was lifted – Bavaria

The former head of the town hall of Leutershausen, Sandra Bonnemeier, has to answer to the court again. The Bavarian Higher Regional Court has overturned a judgment of the Ansbach Regional Court.

In the breach of trust proceedings against the former mayor of the Franconian town of Leutershausen, Sandra Bonnemeier, the Bavarian Supreme Regional Court has overturned an acquittal by the Ansbach Regional Court. Bonnemeier had operated a homepage at a non-municipal Internet address, which also contained a private diary blog on topics related to the office. In 2018 she was sued because of an entry there. The mayor at the time then had the court and attorney’s fees for this civil law dispute paid from the city budget. Wrongly so, as the Supreme Court has now decided. In principle, it should be regarded as disloyalty if a town hall chief settles private expenses with the municipal budget. The Ansbach district court must now deal with the cause again.
