Saturday, at the Zénith de Lille, the Fatals Picards and Marcel and his orchestra gave a concert in joy and good humor in front of a cheerful and restless crowd. But the party turned into a nightmare for several spectators, victims of sexual assault. These are the two groups who denounced the “behaviour of some spectators” on the facebook page Picardy Fatals.
“We have been denouncing it for 30 years …”, can we read the title of the video in which the singers of the two groups protest the facts which have been reported to them. “Many people present this Saturday, mostly women, told us of their more than legitimate anger at the behavior of some spectators who were obviously very unfamiliar with the basic rules of decorum”, is it written in a post widely commented. Among the complaints received, the Fatals Picards list “very inappropriate gestures, remarks almost as much, sexual assault”.
“It’s not you I blame but these pigs”
In addition to the testimonies received privately by the group, other victims come forward in the comments of the Facebook post. “For my part, inappropriate gestures, and especially a whole glass of beer through the face”, denounces Patty. “I admit that we were with 5 girls for 4 men. We have put quite a few back in place,” admits Dany. “It’s not you that I blame, but those pigs who take advantage of every moment to bring out the most primitive of human beings,” insists Lafée.
With one voice, the two groups express their “sincere regrets” for “these reprehensible behavior”. They assure that they will do their best to “wipe them off the map of our concerts”. No legal proceedings have been initiated at the time of this writing.
