Leopoldstrasse closed in Munich: fans celebrate the Turkish championship – Munich

Around 700 supporters of the Turkish football club Trabzonspor paralyzed traffic on Leopoldstrasse on Saturday evening: They celebrated winning the Turkish championship, which their team had just sealed – three games before the end of the season. Around 10 p.m. the fans gathered behind the Siegestor and blocked the traffic with cars; some burned off pyrotechnic objects, so-called bengalos. Among other things, the police were on site with two squads; between 10:15 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. it blocked Leopoldstrasse in both directions and diverted traffic. After the police issued several place references and issued around 20 warnings for illegal parking, they broke up the celebration. Four people were also reported for attempted dangerous bodily harm for the burning of the Bengalos.

When FC Bayern also secured the German championship three games before the end a week ago, things had remained quiet on Leopoldstrasse. For the Munich fans, however, it was the tenth title win in a row, so nothing unusual. Trabzonspor, on the other hand, won their first title since 1984.
