Depeche Mode play acclaimed first concert in Germany

Depeche Mode play in front of 70,000 enthusiastic fans in Leipzig. It’s the first concert without keyboardist Fletcher, who died exactly a year ago.
Exactly one year to the day after the death of their keyboardist and founding member Andrew “Andy” Fletcher, Depeche Mode played the first German concert of their current tour in Leipzig in the evening.
According to the organizers, around 70,000 fans came to the sold-out open-air concert. Dave Gahan and Martin Gore remembered their companions in emotional pictures. Fletcher died on May 26, 2022 at the age of 60. He was considered the inconspicuous one in the British cult band, a haven of peace between the charismatic Gahan and Gore.
For the “Memento Mori” tour, the duo got support from two musicians. Depeche Mode played songs from the current album of the same name, such as “My Cosmos is Mine” and “Ghosts Again”. But they were also celebrated by the fans, especially for classics from the 80s and 90s like “Everything Counts” or “Walking in my Shoes”.
Depeche Mode will play seven more concerts in Germany as part of their world tour. Performances are planned in Düsseldorf on June 4th and 6th, and they are expected on June 20th in Munich’s Olympic Stadium. Then there will be two performances in Frankfurt/Main (June 29th and July 1st) and Berlin (July 7th and 9th).
