Demonstrations against the corona protection measures are taking place again in several German cities. In Leipzig, participants storm the premises of the university clinic.

Opponents of the corona protection measures protested again in several German cities on Saturday. While most of the demonstrations were peaceful, according to police reports on Sunday, the site of the university clinic in Leipzig was stormed. There, dozens of people ran onto the grounds of the psychiatric hospital.

According to the police, the protest march began on Saturday afternoon in Wilhelm-Külz-Park near the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. He was initially stopped until a leader was appointed. There was already a first attempt to circumvent the police barriers. In the vicinity of the clinic, the demonstration had grown to several hundred people.

Corona opponents in Leipzig break through the police chain

“Since the requests of the assembly authority were not followed, no folders were used and current corona protection regulations were not observed, the elevator was stopped again by the police forces,” the police said. Then several dozen people broke through a police line that had stood in front of the clinic. “They got to the hospital grounds, but the majority of them were held there by emergency services.”

In the meantime, a mid three-digit number of people had been in the area. The police determined the identity more than 50 times. Investigations had been initiated on suspicion of trespassing and trespassing, it said. In addition, violations of the Assembly Act and the Corona Emergency Ordinance as well as resistance to law enforcement officers, insults and damage to property are being investigated.

Emergency services document numerous violations

In contrast, a demonstration of around 3,900 people on Saturday in Düsseldorf was largely peaceful. However, the police said the emergency services had to punish more than 120 violations of the Corona Protection Ordinance. Pyrotechnics were also set off. A few unregistered counter-protests took place along the route.

According to the police, up to 4,500 people demonstrated against the corona measures in Freiburg on Saturday. This went peacefully, only individual participants had to be excluded from the meeting because they were not wearing a mask.

At a demonstration of around 1150 people in Osnabrück, the police initiated “a few” administrative offense proceedings and excluded five participants, as announced on Saturday evening. According to the police inspectors there, protests in Trier and Osnabrück were also peaceful, as were two so-called Corona walks in Alzey and Kirchen (Sieg).
