To best prepare for the parliamentary resumption and the battery of bills that Emmanuel Macron would like to have adopted, the deputies of the parties of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) will meet in Ivry-sur-Seine in the Val-de -Marne on September 18. On the program of this political seminar: work and reflect together on the various bills that await parliamentarians at the start of the school year, thanks to various workshops around ecology, democracy and legislative tools, say the organizers.
Julien Bayou (EELV), Benjamin Lucas (Génération-s), Jérôme Guedj (PS), Elsa Faucillon (PCF) and Danielle Simonnet (LFI) have been appointed by their respective party leaders to co-organize this day, said MP Julien Bayou on Thursday to AFP, confirming information from France Info.
What about European and senatorial elections?
This back-to-school seminar will therefore be an opportunity for the Nupes deputies to meet for the first time since the parliamentary holidays, while each party organizes its summer days on its side but on the same weekend.
In the midst of an internal storm linked in particular to the choice of ecologists and communists to present their own list to the Europeans of 2024, a choice publicly criticized by La France insoumise, the Nupes is thus trying to maintain its alliance in its parliamentary version. Admittedly, the latter has always worked well since its lightning creation for the legislative elections of 2022. No agreement has been reached either for the senatorials of the start of the school year.
But Julien Bayou sweeps away any idea of an attempt to save Nupes: “it’s quite classic. We organize this meeting time as we were able to organize others during the first year of the legislature”.
This seminar will be held in the city of Ivry-sur-Seine, highly symbolic of the alliance, since the mayor Philippe Bouyssou is a communist and the deputy Mathilde Panot, rebellious. This is also where the headquarters of the Socialist Party is located.
