League Cup | Manchester United sinks at Old Trafford against Newcastle (0-3) and leaves the competition

The Magpies push the Red Devils. Like Manchester City in the league last Sunday, Newcastle won largely on Manchester United’s pitch on Wednesday in the round of 16 of the League Cup (0-3). Solid, serious and efficient, the visitors punished the opposing shortcomings by Miguel Almiron (29th), Lewis Hall (35th) and Joe Willock (61st). The Mancuniens lose their trophy and are at their worst.

It was without Raphaël Varane, clearly sidelined, that the Mancuniens presented themselves for this poster between teams engaged in the Champions League. They initially showed willingness and Casemiro took the first shot of the match (13th). Except that the former Madrilenian, like Hannibal Mejbri (14th), his friend in recovery, was warned (19th). The Tunisian even flirted with a second yellow card as a sign of the nervousness reigning among the Reds Devils (17th).

Newcastle hurt

With an offensive quartet Mount – Antony – Martial – Garnacho without ideas, Manchester United did not actually offer anything in terms of play and Newcastle was able to calmly put themselves in place despite the rapid injury of Matt Targett (2nd). His replacement Almiron perfectly concluded a superb rush from right-back Valentino Livramento and opened the scoring (0-1, 29th). Trailing, the Mancuniens shook themselves but Mason Mount remained clumsy (31st, 32nd).
