Promotion to the first stock exchange league: The family of the leading German index Dax has new members. However, other corporations are surprisingly relegated.

Daimler Truck is promoted to the first stock exchange league: The truck manufacturer, which was split off from the former Daimler group, managed to make the leap into the leading German index Dax just under three months after its initial listing.

The inclusion will take place on March 21, as announced by the index provider Qontigo, which belongs to Deutsche Börse. Experts had expected this decision.

Also unsurprisingly, the insurer Hannover Re has been promoted to the Dax. As expected, the consumer goods group Beiersdorf has to give way. However, the descent of the energy company Siemens Energy into the MDax was not predicted by all experts.

In addition, three other companies will soon be listed in the index of medium-sized stocks that were previously a league lower in the SDax. These are the media group RTL, the car rental company Sixt and the wafer manufacturer Siltronic. The special software provider Compugroup, Hella, which belongs to the car supplier Faurecia, and the car dealer Auto1 have to make room for this.

The IT service provider Adesso, which will be moving into the SDax, will soon be new to the Dax family. The online fashion retailer Global Fashion Group has to make room for this. Index changes are particularly important for funds that replicate indices in real terms. There must then be shifted and reweighted accordingly, which can have an impact on share prices.
