Le Touquet is adorned with a royal name. The city of Pas-de-Calais announced on Monday that it had “officially obtained the agreement of King Charles III” to rename its international airport in the name of Elizabeth II, as he had announced his intention after the death of the queen.
“Le Touquet-Paris-Plage International Airport” will take the name “Elizabeth II Le Touquet-Paris-Plage International Airport”, the City announced in a press release. “The agreement having been given by King Charles III to Mayor LR Daniel Fasquelle, a date for the inauguration remains to be set”, adds the City, for whom the operation is “a tribute to a great queen” and “a recognition for the “most British of French stations”.

The airport was designed in the 1930s to accommodate British customers by air, notes the City. She recalls that Le Touquet will receive the England rugby team in base camp for the Rugby World Cup, from September 8 to October 28.
