“Le Nozze di Figaro” in Munich: In the hashish thicket – culture

The overture rushes in quite quickly, light-handed, but still with a dramatic tone throughout. The conductor Stefano Montanari knows his craft and will raise it to true art over the course of the evening, when he not only guides the singers through the new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Bavarian State Opera but above all also ensures that the musicians don’t get too comfortable in the orchestra pit and don’t sink into the Mozart sound. It is a production that – now rather the exception – is completely tailored to the music.
