“Le Grêlé” appeared on a France 2 game show, while he was wanted by the police

In 2019, while he was wanted and before being found dead in September 2021, the serial killer “Le Grêlé”, François Vérove, former gendarme and police officer, participated in the show France 2 “Everyone wants to take their place”, presented by Nagui. The information was revealed in 2022 by journalist Patricia Tourancheau in her book Le Grêlé, the killer was a cop (Points editions). Marianne found, Tuesday March 12, 2024, the video.

The show dates from May 13, 2019. An extract was published on the social network X:

He evokes the “Bois de Boulogne”

Questioned by Nagui about his career as a police officer and gendarme, the man particularly mentions his rounds in the “Bois de Boulogne”. This, while he was dismissed in 1986 for a possible “morality affair” with prostitutes in the same woods, notes Marianne.

“Le Grêlé” was wanted for at least four murders and six rapes, between 1986 and 1994. The former police officer, who was to be questioned by the criminal brigade, was found dead in an apartment in Grau-du-Roi (Gard) on September 29, 2021. He left a letter in which he wrote: “I admit to being a serious criminal who committed unforgivable acts until the end of the 1990s.” His DNA could then be compared to that of “Grêlé”, confirming that it was indeed the same man.
