Located straddling the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne, Bois Saint-Martin was the largest private wood in Grand Paris closed to the public. Bought by the Green Spaces Agency on behalf of the Île-de-France region, it will become accessible to the public from this Saturday.
With its 280 hectares of surface, that is to say 400 football fields, it is a gigantic pocket of nature about twenty kilometers east of Paris that opens up to Ile-de-France residents. Bois Saint-Martin is distinguished from other woods in the Ile-de-France region by its diversity of environments, rare in Île-de-France. Long paths lined with majestic trees, some of which are centuries old, carpets of green ferns, numerous ponds and meadows which extend over more than 30 hectares and mark the heart of this wood.
“Its opening marks the culmination of work spanning more than 40 years, with two major challenges: improving the living environment of Ile-de-France residents and preserving over time this extraordinary natural area located less than 20 kilometers from the center. of Paris ”, explains Anne Cabrit, President of the Green Spaces Agency of the Île-de-France region. The wood is accessible by RER E at Les Yvris-Noisy-le-Grand station.
