A crew member on NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime has been shot dead. The US broadcaster confirmed this in a statement.

A crew member of the NBC series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was shot and killed near the filming location in New York early Tuesday morning (July 19). This is reported unanimously by several US media.

“We were extremely saddened and shocked to learn that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime and passed away earlier this morning,” said a joint statement from NBC and Universal Television, from which the including the industry portal “Deadline” quoted. It would work with local law enforcement, who are investigating. “Our condolences go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy at this time.”

Unknown person opened fire

A spokesman for the New York City Police Department told People magazine, the crew member was a 31-year-old man. He was sitting in his car in Brooklyn when an unknown person approached the car and opened fire. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, a little later he was pronounced dead. The spokesman said the victim was not on set at the time of the shooting. According to “Deadline”, production was suspended for the day.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is one of three Law & Order series currently airing on NBC. Filming for the third season is currently underway. Besides “Organized Crime” there is “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Law & Order”.
