Laurent Wauquiez wants to experiment with the uniform, Gabriel Attal approves

In Meyzieu (Rhône),

“We are ready to experiment with wearing uniforms in high schools in our area. » If Laurent Wauquiez’s announcement did not rejoice the students of the Arnaud-Beltrame high school in Meyzieu, shaking their heads energetically, it did, however, seduce Gabriel Attal. Traveling in the Rhône this Friday morning, the Minister of National Education approved the idea, revealing in passing that he would “announce a timetable for experimental methods next fall. »

“Many French people are divided on this question and would like to form an opinion. The best way to advance the debate is always to experiment and test things”, argues Gabriel Attal, specifying that he is “in favor of being able to test the wearing of the uniform, a unique school outfit » in French establishments.

“No additional cost for families”

“Testing an idea to see if it works can only be positive,” agrees Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, seeing “a certain number of advantages” conferred by wearing the uniform. “The possibility of erasing social differences, of promoting a collective spirit around an establishment,” he lists. I also think that this can facilitate the work of school leaders who, today, are faced with the difficult task of distinguishing between authorized and unauthorized clothing and setting a minimum code of good behavior. »

The elected official also clarified that this “would not cost families anything” since the regional council “would fully finance the outfits”.
