Laurent Ruquier leaves BFM TV three months after his arrival

It was one of the big hits of the back-to-school TV transfer window. But the transplant obviously did not take. Three months after his arrival on BFM TV, Laurent Ruquier announced that he was stopping his daily show The 20H of Ruquier.

Laurent Ruquier made the announcement on Instagram. “I decided not to continue the adventure…”, he wrote. The host explains his decision by the low audiences for the meeting which mixed information and entertainment. “It is clear that the public did not follow me as much as we hoped. »

“Not up to the daily work”

The bet was risky both for Laurent Ruquier, who the public does not know about the news register, and for the host, who had never worked on this register. To explain his decision to stop the show so early in the season, and while Marc-Olivier Fogiel, director of BFM TV, wanted to continue the experiment until June 2024, Laurent Ruquier explains that the personal investment was too much. heavy. “While we have nothing to be ashamed of with the audiences obtained, it is clear that they do not live up to my expectations or, for me, the daily work that this represents. »

Laurent Ruquier will console himself with the success of Les Grosses Têtes on RTL, and will therefore no longer be on television in January, three months after his departure from France 2.

For BFM TV, this is another major defection, a few weeks after the announcement of the departure of Bruce Toussaint, who joined the TF1 group in January.
