Laurent Ruquier announced this morning his departure from BFMTV three months after his arrival: “I decided not to continue the adventure that began at the end of September. It is clear that the public did not follow me as much as we hoped. “

On his Instagram account this morning, Laurent Ruquier announced that he had decided “not to continue the adventure started at the end of September on BFM TV”.

“I would like to thank Marc Olivier Fogiel for the trust he placed in me – and which he wished to renew until the end of the season – but I prefer to stop there. I could hide behind the economic situation international and the dramatic news which certainly did not make my task easier when I arrived, but it is clear that the public did not follow me as much as we hoped in this different role for me. I do not regret of having chosen BFM TV after having had to leave France Télévision last June”, he declared on the social network.

And added: “I lived these three months as an exciting experience and, although we have no reason to be ashamed of the audiences obtained in one quarter. It is clear that they are not up to par either. my hopes nor, for me, the daily work that this represents. I have so much satisfaction with the radio and the Grosses Têtes on RTL, writing for the Theater or producing artists, that I do not wish to continue doing of television only on the condition that the pleasure is shared with the viewers. I wish you a happy holiday season and I’ll see you soon on RTL.”

Commenting on Laurent Ruquier’s post, Marc-Olivier Fogiel spoke. “With Laurent, we agreed to let the quarter pass, not to let ourselves be intoxicated by the comments and to take stock quietly before going on vacation. You know the daily commitment that BFMTV requires, so we exchanged mainly on his desire to continue the adventure started in September”, explains the boss of the news channel.

And to continue: “He asked me to release him from his commitment at the end of the year. The audience (above what we did previously) is not the subject, which leads him to stop is the gap between the necessary investment and the pleasure he gets from what he can offer viewers. I wanted to thank him for trying this adventure. Only those who don’t try anything are sure to achieve nothing. We will have tried!”

In “Le 20h de Ruquier”, launched on September 25 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., Laurent Ruquier was accompanied by Julie Hammett. From Monday to Thursday, the duo offered an hour of current affairs and debates. Around the table, a group of columnists were present to sift the information and question the guests. The show was largely beaten every evening by Pascal Praud and “L’heure des pros 2” on CNews and sometimes preceded by LCI.
