Laurent Blanc, the big comeback. Olympique Lyonnais announced in a press release on Sunday evening the induction of the former technician of the Girondins de Bordeaux, the French team and Paris Saint-Germain as the new coach of his team after his poor start to the season and his streak of five games without a win. Six years after leaving PSG, Blanc will therefore find a bench in Ligue 1, a championship he won four times with FCGB and PSG.
For OL and the 1998 world champion, this union so long announced is finally coming true. He has signed for two seasons, including this one, until June 30, 2024. According to L’Equipe, his new assistant, Franck Passi, will accompany him on his Rhone adventure.

Bosz suspended as a precaution
The arrival of Laurent Blanc also marks the end of the adventure for Peter Bosz. OL have announced that they have laid off their Dutch technician and their assistants on a provisional basis. A more legal procedure than anything else, the time to find an agreement for their departure. In any case, Lyon will go to the checkout.
Textor participated in the decision for White
The OL press release also specified that John Textor, who is to become Lyon’s next majority shareholder from October 21 (the purchase procedure has been postponed for a few weeks), had taken part in the reflection and decision.
“A reflection was carried out internally in order to find the necessary levers to allow the team to start again on solid bases in order to be in line with OL’s ambitions this season. (…) This decision was taken unanimously by the entire institution to give Olympique Lyonnais a very ambitious dimension for the future, both on the French and continental scene.“, the club said.
Free of any commitment since leaving Qatar and Al-Rayyan in February 2022, an ultimately inconclusive fifteen-month experience, Blanc has several challenges ahead of him. First, to straighten out an OL in the midst of a crisis and whose squad has been poorly built, then show that it has not lost its hand in a championship which it knows by heart. The President is back.
