Laure Boulleau tackles Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo (38 years old) has been in the spotlight in the Saudi Pro League for a year. Player of Al-Nassr, he is also ambassador of the championship and of Saudi Arabia. For many, this is certainly one of the reasons which pushed him to tackle Ligue 1 during the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony on Friday. “The Saudi League is not worse than Ligue 1. The Saudi Pro League is more competitive than Ligue 1, I can say that after a year there. We are already better than the French championship now. (…) They can say what they want, I know what I’m saying. It’s my opinion.” An outing that caused a reaction in France.

During the Channel Football Club on Canal+Laure Boulleau expressed her incomprehension. “I was really surprised by his communication. Why tackle Ligue 1? Because Lionel Messi played here? I asked myself the question, why he mentioned Ligue 1 and not other championships. I already think it’s not his level to say that. I think he played in plenty of other championships, except this one, so I think it sucks. It’s not the championship he knows best. Frankly, we watch the Saudi Pro League matches and I honestly think that’s not true. I think it’s a phrase of communication, of pride. He has a lot of ego. But that doesn’t stop me from liking Cristiano Ronaldo a lot, but I don’t like these kinds of statements at all.” But that certainly won’t change CR7’s mind.
