The “Wetten, dass…?” veteran Thomas Gottschalk looks forward to his last show calmly: “They can’t throw me out anymore.”

Showmaster Shortly before his last “Wetten,dass..?” show, Thomas Gottschalk draws a conclusion with mixed feelings. “Times are changing and I have experienced the best,” he told the German Press Agency. The presenter, famous for his quick wit and criticized for some flippant gags, added: “I always fire from the hip, but now I think about it before I say something.”

Overall, Gottschalk is calm about the show: “This time I’m more relaxed than ever, because they can’t throw me out anymore.” ZDF is showing Gottschalk’s last “Wetten Dass…?” on Saturday from 8:15 p.m. from Offenburg. Until then, the 73-year-old says he still has one goal: “I’m currently starving myself into my show clothes, and there’s hope that I can do it!”

The “Wetten, dass…?” comeback in 2021 from Nuremberg was seen by almost 14 million people. In 2022, around 10.1 million viewers watched the television. The station has so far left it open as to what will happen next with the show after Gottschalk’s departure.
