The arrogance begins with the name: last generation. First of all, this should suggest that this is the last chance to finally shake the world awake. And secondly, the name sends the message: We have to fix it because everyone else has failed before us. Both are wrong. Yes, the snail’s pace in the fight against climate change is desperate, mankind should have been much further along. But that’s not because no one has gotten involved so far. The community of states has struggled at countless conferences, but the result has unfortunately been far too timid steps. All the facts about climate change have long been on the table, disputed only by a minority of die-hard deniers.
