“Last generation” demonstrated unannounced in Würzburg – Bavaria

Supporters of the “Last Generation” caused traffic delays in Würzburg on Monday with two unregistered demonstration trains. The city therefore called on road users to avoid the city center in the Main area as much as possible. According to a police spokesman, around 120 men and women took part in the two protests. The police had a number of officers on site because the demo of the climate activists was known in advance. Even if the demonstration is not registered, the police must protect the right of assembly and enable the march, the police reported.

Only at the beginning of the action were the participants temporarily held up to clarify the routes of the marches. The impairments for road users should remain as low as possible, the police explained. The disabilities ultimately remained within limits, said the police spokesman.

There were no road blockades or similar actions, for which the “Last Generation” is also known. The climate activists had announced that there should be increased actions in several cities in Bavaria this week. The protest march in Würzburg should be the prelude to this.
