“Last generation” blocks roads in Fürth – Bavaria

Climate activists of the “last generation” blocked two streets in Fürth in Middle Franconia on Thursday morning. A police spokesman said several activists sat on the road and stopped the traffic. There were disturbances in the morning rush hour. The police were able to clear the blockades after a short time.

Since 2022, the “Last Generation” has been drawing attention to the consequences of climate change with regular sit-ins on the streets, but also with other actions. The group had announced that there should be more campaigns in several cities in Bavaria this week – for example in Nuremberg on Thursday.

Since July, a general decree has banned unannounced actions such as the sticking of climate activists on streets. According to the city, anyone who defies the general decree must expect fines of up to 3,000 euros.

According to the information, climate protests, meetings and demonstrations that are reported in good time are not affected by the order.
