Largely in the lead, Wauquiez welcomes “a clear choice for a clear course”

In view of the tidal wave obtained this Sunday (between 45 and 48% of the votes obtained), Laurent Wauquiez did not take long to savor this first round in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. At 8:15 p.m., the outgoing president (LR) of the region presented himself to a press conference.

“Tonight is a clear choice for a clear course, he proudly proclaimed. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have shown us such great confidence, which went far beyond all expectations. It affects me. We are aware of all of our responsibilities. You have shown strong support in our region for what we wanted to bring together. “

Bruno Bonnell could already be eliminated

This “mark of confidence” has therefore pushed its opponents very far, all credited with less than 15%, of Fabienne Grébert (EELV) second with around 13% to Bruno Bonnell (LREM) fifth and probably out of the race for the second round given estimates below 10%.

Laurent Wauquiez urged the Rhônalpins to “turn the page on this crisis together and to open up a new hope”. In a context of record abstention (more than 67%), his success of the day gives him a glimpse of a highway for the validation of a new mandate in a week.
