Large-scale police operation: What passengers in Hamburg need to pay attention to

The police operation disrupts operations at Hamburg Airport. The area is cordoned off and passengers are not supposed to arrive at all. It is unclear how many of the 286 connections will take place today.

Due to a hostage situation, operations at Hamburg Airport have been suspended indefinitely. This was announced by a spokeswoman. Passengers should keep an eye on their flight status and contact the airlines if necessary.

Up to 34,500 passengers affected

According to the airport, there are numerous flight cancellations and delays throughout the day. 61 flights have already been canceled – 34 departures and 27 arrivals.

286 flights – 139 departures and 147 arrivals – were actually planned for the entire day. Around 34,500 passengers are affected. According to the airport, it is unclear how many connections can take place.

Yesterday 27 flights were already affected. Six departures and four arrivals were canceled, and 17 other arriving aircraft were diverted to other airports.

Police: Don’t come to the airport

The police asked passengers and those collecting them not to come to the airport for the time being. The area is cordoned off and the buildings are not accessible.

The S-Bahn also does not stop at the airport due to the police operation.
