According to their own statements, the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Ellwangen public prosecutor’s office have dug up the largest known drug laboratory for Captagon in Germany. The drug laboratory was discovered in early July in a car repair shop in Regensburg by the narcotics task force of the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office. Two men aged 30 and 51 were arrested, the Federal Criminal Police Office announced on Monday. Since one of them lives in Ellwangen (Ostalbkreis), the public prosecutor’s office there was responsible for the investigation.
The suspects were arrested while processing the amphetamine on a tabletting machine. During the search, 300 kilograms of amphetamine and 2.5 tons of cutting-agent derivatives were found. In addition, several devices for the professional production of intoxicants for sale abroad were seized. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, Captagon belongs to the group of amphetamines. The drug is therefore highly addictive and can trigger depression, hallucinations and anxiety.
