Landshut: New armor for princely wedding – Bavaria

The so-called armaments smiths are still doing well in Bavaria, but something like what was presented to the public in Landshut at the weekend has “not been built for 500 years” in this country, according to Stefan Feigel. From the next performance of the “Landshut Wedding 1475” in 2023, another knight will be able to throw himself in brand new, but at the same time authentically medieval armor – much to the delight of Stefan Feigel, the chairman of the “Die Förderer” association.

In this case, the armorer known as “Plattner” is Peter Müller. He made an iron combat suit for the famous medieval spectacle, which, according to the information from the “sponsors”, can be used as a riding armor or as a foot armor, ie as a so-called “Kempfküriss”, depending on the purpose. This expansion of the association’s own armory, which “also attracted attention from the professional audience present”, was only possible thanks to a generous donation from Sissi and Ernst Pöschl. The latter was also chairman of the “sponsors” for a long time. With an armaments set like this, the association will “more than justify our claim to be Germany’s cultural heritage as well as our motto ‘Inspire the masses, convince the professional world'”, said Feigel. In addition, one honors “the reputation as a plattner stronghold that the city of Landshut had at the time of the Landshut wedding”.
