Landes hunters offer their camouflage uniforms to Ukrainian fighters

Landes hunters have sorted through their cupboards, for a good cause. The Federation of Landes Hunters responded to the appeal of Polish associations by collecting mountains of camouflage clothing for Ukrainian civilians who take up arms. “We were asked because our clothes are warm, solid and discreet, which is what the military are looking for”, explains Régis Hargues, director of the federation of Landes hunters.

In a few days, the federation, which has 19,000 hunters, has amassed nearly 50 m3 of hunting equipment, exceeding all expectations. The room is thus full to bursting with fatigues and jackets, walking shoes, but also flashlights, camp beds, stoves. The hunters answered the call of two Polish NGOs Fundacja Ocelanie and Fundacja Rodu Szeptyckich, and “everything went at breakneck speed”, assures a resident of the Landes, Eva Dzueduszyck, who relayed these requests to the hunters.

A “moment of empathy and benevolence”

“There are plenty of Ukrainian civilians who want to engage in territorial defense and who have nothing to wear,” says this resident of Saint-Pierre-du-Mont in contact with these associations, who is delighted of this “outpouring of empathy and benevolence”. For this daughter of hunters, whose Polish family is originally from Lviv, in western Ukraine, “all you have to do is open a hunter’s wardrobe to see that it’s overflowing with clothes! “.

The material will leave on Wednesday aboard a semi-trailer chartered free of charge by a Polish transporter bound for the town of Przemyśl, on the border with Ukraine, before being distributed for the benefit of the resistance which is trying to repel the invasion. Russian. “We limited the collection to the Landes department otherwise it would have taken 10 semi-trailers”, assures the boss of the Landes hunters.
