What a start. After a three-year break, the Munich Jazz Summer returns to the Hotel Bayerischer Hof nightclub with a furious set by New York alto saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin. Next door was the Abi-Ball, in front of the square night owls were looking for their way. It’s evenings like this that remind you in a positive sense that just a year ago the plague brought the planet to its knees and people lost their biographies for more than two years. And that the world before that could be so wonderfully summery as it was on this Friday evening.
