“Back with a bang” – back with a bang. The Austrian football professional David Alaba expressed his joy at his direct free kick via Twitter, which ensured Real Madrid’s 2-1 win on the first La Liga matchday at promoted UD Almeria.

Alaba came on for Ferland Mendy in the 74th minute and scored the winning goal with his first touch of the ball.

Before the substitution, Real coach Carlo Ancelotti told him “that I should take the free kick and score a goal,” the Spanish sports newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” quoted the 30-year-old as saying. After the game, the Italian called out to him: “I told you so.” Shortly after he entered the field, Alaba had a brief discussion with Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos and then pocketed the ball with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area.

“I felt good even before the free-kick and the team gave me the confidence to take it,” Alaba continued. The Austrian closed his tweet with the words “Good start” and the Real exclamation “Hala Madrid”.
