L214 has just released a new investigation in which it calls into question a chicken farm in Saint-Saturnin-du-Limet (Mayenne), which it presents as “the largest in France”. The association, which broadcasts images filmed in one of the eight buildings where 2 million poultry pass each year, announces to file a complaint “ for ill-treatment ”in particular against the operator and its owner, the LDC group (which supplies the Le Gaulois brand).
L214 denounces, for example, the use of a “chicken cannon”, a kind of machine which sucks the birds on one side “and expels them on the other at high speed into the transport crates to go to the slaughterhouse” , as well as “overdue” chickens. According to the association, the operation had already been the subject of a formal notice from the prefecture in 2012 “for exceeding the number of authorized chickens, and for non-compliance with the spreading distances vis-à-vis the water withdrawal points ”.

A online petition, which already asks “LDC to ban these practices”, collected nearly 90,000 signatures after the association
questioned the group several times. L214 announces an action in the streets of Sablé-sur-Sarthe, this Thursday morning, before a visit to the head office of LDC to deposit the signatures and try to meet the management.
