The Russian authorities are preparing to carry out evacuations in Armiansk, in the north of occupied Crimea, and “sabotage operations” at a factory in the region, Ukrainian military intelligence reported on Monday. The shortage of water in the Crimean Canal, due to the destruction of the Kakhovka dam on June 6, is seriously affecting the Crimean Titan plant, which produces titanium dioxide, they explain on Telegram.
“The Russians believe that it is impossible to resume work under the required conditions. Information about the possible shutdown of the Crimean Titan is circulating in the temporarily occupied Armiansk Territory. At the same time, engineering units of the occupying army have been mining the workshops of the factory, which are still in operation, for a few days and planting explosives in the factory and its surroundings. »
“The terrorist act against the Crimean Titan enterprise, which the Russian invaders are about to commit, will bring about a catastrophe (…) with terrible consequences”write the intelligence services, specifying that 200 tons of ammonia are used there in a cooling unit. “In the event of an explosion in the plant, depending on the direction of the wind, a cloud of ammonia will cover the surrounding areas within half an hour”they add, judging that the districts of Armiansk, Krasnoperekopsk and the south of the Kherson region will be threatened.
In his daily update on the situation in Ukrainethe British Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday that the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir was now probably too low to supply the Crimean Canal. “The water will soon stop flowing to Crimea”he said.
