There is great sympathy for the death of the police officer who was shot in the Kusel district. The 29-year-old official’s football club shares moving words.

“The person we played football with, laughed at and became friends with is no longer here.” With these touching words, FC Freisen 1920 eV in Saarland bid farewell to their teammates on Facebook. The person for whom the members mourn is the 29-year-old police officer who was shot dead on Sunday in the Kusel district together with his 24-year-old colleague during a traffic check (star reported).

“Torn from life, from our midst, but not from our hearts and our team,” the football club’s contribution continues. “Because he’s going to be with us in every dressing room, in every game, on every pitch, because every time we play, every time we celebrate a win and we’re going to be disappointed because of a loss, every time we do that raise a glass, will think of you”.

The sympathy for the death of the two young people is great. In the 1250 comments under the Facebook post, many users express their condolences. They wish the relatives a lot of strength. The football club’s post has already been shared more than 3,300 times on Facebook.

An ecumenical commemoration will take place in Kusel on Thursday

A public commemoration of the two victims is planned in Rhineland-Palatinate. The district of Kusel, where the day happened on Sunday, is on the border with Saarland in the southwest of Rhineland-Palatinate. “There will be a minute’s silence nationwide at 10 a.m. on Friday,” said a spokesman for the police headquarters in Kaiserslautern on Wednesday.

An ecumenical memorial service for the police officer will take place in the Protestant town church in Kusel on Thursday at 7 p.m. “We as a church have noticed that there is a great need within the population to express grief,” said Dean Lars Stetzenbach. “We want to offer a place and a forum for the very different feelings associated with it.” As the great sympathy in the social media shows, many people have also found a forum for their grief there in the past few days.
