in the star-Interview, the comedian Kurt Krömer talks about his depression, which tormented him for 30 years, his childhood and his fear of his father.

Comedian Kurt Krömer, 47, kept secret for almost 30 years that he was suffering from depression. In conversation with the star says Krömer that he was afraid of being treated and “losing his full tit” through therapy, which is important for the job. It was only when the single father of four children, who said he felt unable to live and was still in his pajamas when his children came home, did he seek help.

Fears from childhood haunt Kurt Krömer to this day

In the interview, Krömer also talks about his childhood, which was anything but happy. His father, “a thug”, “ruined” his childhood and finished him, his siblings and his mother. “To this day, I get scared when I hear a key turning in a lock,” says Krömer.

Now the comedian would like to encourage other sufferers to go into therapy and get depression out of the supposed taboo zone. This is one of the reasons why he is now publishing his experiences in the book “You must not believe everything you think – My Depression”.

In the meantime, Krömer is happy to have made his illness public. It was easier to come out as an ex-depressive than to sit across from AfD politician Erika Steinbach on his program “Chez Krömer”. “Both were near-death experiences. But when it came to depression, I knew I could get it under control,” says Krömer.
