Kunstclub 13 in Munich awards a sponsorship prize for young art – Munich

It starts on a small scale and doesn’t stop on a large scale: money is the all-powerful instrument with the help of which individual people are steered through to economic, political and social systems. Behind every monetary value there is a claim to power – to individuals and to communities. The artist Rosanna Marie Pondorf strives to make these connections between money and power clear in her art. She impressed the Kunstclub 13 in Munich with her strictly conceptual-sculptural works. The jury of the Promotion Prize for Young Art found that it succeeded in “convincingly interweaving the facets of this complex social issue and bringing them into a concise and formally very convincing formal language.” Pondorf, born in 1993, is co-founder of the autonomous art space Rosa Stern Space, which has existed since 2020.

Felix Rodewaldt won the audience award with his graphic compositions. His often large-format structures are familiar from restaurants and clubs, but also from city parks or government buildings. At the 2024 diploma exhibition, he graphically re-interpreted the elevator in the main building of the art academy. The prize is endowed with a total of 10,000 euros: 5,000 for the winner and 1,000 each for the nominees. All works will be on display at Platform, Kistlerhofstraße 70 in Sendling until May 24th.
