Kostas Papanastasiou: “Lindenstrasse” star is dead – people

Mourning for Kostas Papanastasiou from the ARD series “Lindenstrasse”!

The actor, whom many affectionately called the “Lindenstrasse” host, died on Sunday at the age of 84, as the “Tagesspiegel” learned from the actor’s close circle of friends. Fans of the early evening series, which was discontinued in March 2020, knew the native Greek in his role as “Panaiotis Sarikakis”.

It is not yet known what the 84-year-old died from. The restaurateur suffered from dementia until the end, as his son Kostas explained in a BILD interview in February 2020: “He has been living in assisted living for three months, back together with his mother. She had already moved there two years ago, and my father stayed in the apartment above the bar ”.

“It didn’t come suddenly,” said his son at the time. “He noticed that he was forgetting things. He fell in front of the house and broke his pelvis. With that he had to go to the hospital. Later he came to assisted living. He’s fine there. I believe. Of course, he also has moments when he notices it. That annoys him then. But otherwise … More and more people feel like that. I hope that he is somehow okay … ”

Before actor Papanastasiou moved into the facility, he ran the “Terzo Mondo” for 45 years. The “Zeus from Berlin Savignyplatz” was how his guests spoke about him in appreciation. It is now Berlin’s oldest Greek tavern. And it’s still going well.

From 1985 to 1996 Papanastasiou was part of the “Lindenstrasse” series, which was last shown on television on March 29, 2020.
