Komische Oper Berlin: Le nozze di Figaro by Mozart – Culture

Great art becomes political through its resistance and social dynamics. Just like Mozart’s pre-revolutionary comedy “Le nozze di Figaro”, which the Russian filmmaker, opera and theater director Kirill Serebrennikov enchanted and disenchanted at the Komische Oper Berlin. Serebrennikov as the artist whose enormous recognition arose from the political conflict situation in which he lived: at the Gogol Center in Moscow, he led, with crazy audacity, the leading avant-garde theater in Russia. To silence him, Russian authorities charged him with alleged embezzlement of funds in 2017, convicted him and sent him to house arrest for years.
