Kochel: “Colorful greetings to Paul Klee”. Exhibition in the Franz Marc Museum – Bavaria

The card greetings that Maria and Franz Marc exchanged with Lily and Paul Klee are colorful and varied. An exhibition in the Franz Marc Museum also makes the differences between the two painters clear.

“Your card today was a sensation. It will be framed,” Lily Klee wrote to Franz and Maria Marc in Sindelsdorf on April 19, 1913. In fact, the small, red-framed and Japanese-inspired paradise landscape with mountain, hill, tree and two horses is simply gorgeous. However, this applies to almost all cards from the correspondence between the two artist couples in 1913. A special exhibition in the Franz Marc Museum in Kochler offers the opportunity to delve deeper into the magically composed card greetings.
