The American actor Carl Weathers, known from the “Rocky” films and “Predator”, has died at the age of 76. His family said Weathers passed away peacefully.
According to his manager Matt Luber, Weathers died on Thursday. The former football player started his Hollywood career in the 1970s and was mainly seen in action films and comedies.
With Sylvester Stallone in front of the camera
His best-known role was as Apollo Creed in the four “Rocky” films, in which he appeared in front of the camera from 1976 alongside Sylvester Stallone, first as an opponent and then as an ally of the title hero Rocky.
In “Predator” Weathers fought alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and in the comedy “Happy Gilmore” he taught Adam Sandler how to play golf. Weathers also appeared in numerous television series, such as “Arrested Development” and “Chicago Justice”. Most recently, he appeared in all three seasons of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian.”
